The DOD has been replacing current military ID cards when the old one expires.  The new card has removed the personel information such as your Social Security Number from the face of the card.  This information now hidden from the eye is included in the encrypted bar code on the card which guards your private information.

If your current card has an expiration date, you need do nothing until within 30 days of expiration at which time the new card will be issued to you.  However, if your expiration date says INDEF instead of an actual date, you need to contact your nearest Pass and ID office for the new card.
